   not necessarily,DONOT attempt to test anything for asbestos yourself.You obviously know it can kill you,so why take the chance????

   First of all, either they’re vinyl or they’re asbestos. There is no such thing as vinyl asbestos.
   If your house was built after the 1970′s, then you won’t have anything asbestos in it (except for maybe some insulation inside the walls).

   A general rule is abestos based products stop being used by 1979. So it depends on if your home was built prior to and if the existing tiles are original. Still, testing provides peace of mind:
